FACT SHEET: The Where, What, When, Why and Who of The Junction.


| WHERE: | At the junction of Highways 101 and 135 (Bell Street) at the corner of Main Street in Los Alamos. |
| WHAT: |
The Junction is a Western-style building on a triangle-shaped 35,000 square foot lot zoned C-1 (Limited Commercial). The ground floor will have shops and offices. The second and third floor will have 19 one, two and three-bedroom apartments. There will be 12,600 SF of commercial and about the same for apartments. There is an open center courtyard for community events. The ground floor includes a bank with drive-up window. |
| WHEN: | Initial plans were submitted to the County in the Fall of 2002. During 2005 and 2006, the plans were reviewed by the Board of Architectural Review (BAR) and were extensively modified to ensure compatibility with the design theme of Los Alamos. The BAR recommended a third story to provide more variation in the height. The Junction was presented to the Los Alamos Plan Advisory Committee on October 16, 2006 and received a unanimous recommendation for approval. |
| WHY: | Provide a place for people to live, work, shop and relax featuring Western hospitality. |
